Etchi Werner-Nyiri

"Etchi Werner-Nyiri mourns nature, for the constant abuse by people and the modern life style, changing right in front of her eyes. With what seems like a requiem to nature, come also touches of an optimistic approach, implying that nature will overcome the force of destruction, perhaps even via artificial materials an hybrid connections.

In her body of works she binds together different wooden stumps with gray plastic tubes and plumbing parts; she places concrete birds on industrial-made bottles, emptied of their original content. Etchi creates mixture of modern waste with nature components, creating a type of urban perpetuation to birds, who were part of the act of creation but have been silenced since.

The complex floor installation of Werner-Nyiri was meant to caution, as well as the concrete birds who's flight been interrupted and are now standing still as a reminder of what could happen. Through them, the artist sends out a warning of the possibility that modern life breaks the balance between nature and human/urban reality, and it seems like now is the time to take restraining action and rehabilitate."
